Features:

The ASE-DA07 is a ruggedized external antenna for compatible ASE Iridium Extreme and Iridium Extreme PTT docking stations. It combines Iridium satellite communication and GPS reception in a single low-profile antenna assembly, allowing a docked handset to operate from inside a vehicle while the antenna maintains a clear view of the sky.

The attached 7-meter cable assembly provides additional routing distance for permanent vehicle and mobile-command installations. The antenna is intended for ASE docking equipment with separate Iridium and GPS antenna connections.

Satellite Phone Store can help confirm compatibility with the specific ASE dock and determine whether the antenna, cable length, and connectors are suitable for the installation.

Description

Combined Iridium and GPS Connection

The ASE-DA07 carries both the Iridium satellite signal and GPS positioning signal between the exterior antenna and a compatible ASE docking station. This allows the docked Iridium Extreme handset to support satellite voice or PTT communication while retaining GPS functionality.

Separate cable paths are used for the Iridium and GPS connections, even though both antenna elements are housed in one exterior assembly.

Designed for Vehicle Installations

The ruggedized aero-style housing is intended for fixed external installation on vehicles and other mobile communication platforms. It replaces the shorter magnetic-mount antenna commonly supplied with ASE mobile dock packages when a permanent installation and longer cable route are required.

Typical applications include emergency-response vehicles, utility fleets, field-service vehicles, mobile command units, and remote operations equipment.

Seven-Meter Cable Routing

The 7-meter, or approximately 23-foot, cable assembly provides room to route the antenna connections from the exterior mounting location to a docking station installed in the passenger compartment, equipment area, or communications console.

The cables should be routed away from sharp edges, excessive heat, moving components, and sources of electrical interference.

Antenna Placement

The antenna should be installed in an exterior location with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky and horizon. Roof-level placement is generally preferred because nearby structures, roof racks, and other antennas can obstruct Iridium satellite visibility.

The antenna does not provide service independently. A compatible ASE dock, Iridium Extreme or Extreme PTT handset, active SIM card, and suitable Iridium service plan are required.

Dock Compatibility

ASE lists the DA07 as an optional antenna for its Iridium Extreme mobile docking systems, including equipment used with the Iridium Extreme PTT handset. Compatibility should be confirmed for other docks because antenna connectors, GPS bias voltage, and gain requirements can differ between manufacturers.
