Iridium Magnetic Mount Antenna - 5 meter
Description
External Iridium Antenna Access
Iridium equipment requires a clear view of the sky for reliable satellite communication. Vehicle roofs and other surrounding structures can obstruct the signal when a handset or terminal is used indoors.
This antenna can be positioned outside while the phone, dock, or terminal remains inside the vehicle. It supports compatible Iridium voice and data equipment and is suitable for temporary mobile installations where permanent antenna mounting is not required.
Magnetic Vehicle Mounting
The integrated magnetic base secures the antenna to a suitable steel surface without drilling mounting holes. This makes it easy to install, remove, or transfer between vehicles as operating requirements change.
For proper attachment and signal performance, the antenna should be placed upright on a clean, stable metal surface with an open view of the sky. The magnetic mount is intended for ferrous metal and will not attach securely to aluminum, fiberglass, or composite panels.
Five-Meter Cable
The integrated 5-meter cable provides approximately 16.4 feet of reach between the antenna and the connected equipment. This allows more flexibility when routing the cable from a vehicle roof to a handset adapter, docking station, or terminal installed inside.
The cable terminates in a TNC male connector. A separate antenna adapter may be needed when the antenna is used with a handheld Iridium phone rather than equipment with a built-in TNC female port.
Iridium Voice and Data Support
The antenna operates from 1616 to 1626 MHz with right-hand circular polarization, matching the frequency and polarization requirements of compatible Iridium communication equipment.
It can support Iridium satellite voice and data services when connected to the appropriate active phone or terminal. The antenna itself does not contain a modem or provide satellite service independently.
Compact Outdoor Design
The antenna housing measures approximately 2.76 × 1.97 × 0.55 inches and weighs about 3.7 ounces. Its compact profile makes it easy to store in a vehicle or communication kit when not in use.
An operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C supports use across varied outdoor and mobile environments. The cable should be routed without sharp bends, crushing, or repeated contact with door edges.
Practical Mobile Applications
The 5-meter magnetic antenna is useful for work trucks, emergency vehicles, RVs, temporary field offices, and remote travel. The additional cable length makes it particularly suitable when the connected equipment cannot be positioned close to the antenna mounting point.
Because the installation is removable, the same antenna can also be moved between compatible vehicles or field setups as needed.
