Features:

The Iridium Marine Mast Antenna AT1621-142 is a fixed external antenna for Iridium satellite phones, docking stations, and compatible voice or data terminals. Its pole-mount design allows the antenna to be installed above a vessel, building, or remote site where it can maintain a clear view of the sky.

The antenna operates across the Iridium frequency range and does not require a ground plane. Its weather-resistant housing, protected TNC connection, and wide operating-temperature range make it suitable for permanent marine and outdoor installations. An appropriate antenna cable and device-specific adapter are required and sold separately.

Satellite Phone Store can help confirm compatibility with the Iridium handset, dock, or terminal being installed and identify the correct cable and adapter for the complete system.

Description

Fixed Iridium Antenna Installation

The AT1621-142 provides an external antenna connection for Iridium equipment used inside a vessel, building, vehicle shelter, or equipment enclosure. Installing the antenna outdoors with an unobstructed view of the sky allows the connected device to communicate without relying on its internal or handset-mounted antenna.

It is suitable for marine communications, remote facilities, fixed command locations, telemetry systems, and other installations where Iridium equipment is operated from a protected interior location.

Broad Iridium Equipment Compatibility

The antenna is approved for the Iridium network and supports a range of Iridium voice and data equipment. Documented compatible devices include Iridium 9500-series, 9555, and Extreme 9575 handsets, along with 9522B and 9602/9603 data modems. It may also be used with compatible docking stations and terminals that provide a 50-ohm Iridium antenna interface.

Compatibility depends on the cable, connector, and adapter used between the antenna and the connected device. These installation components should be selected for the specific handset, dock, or modem.

Marine and Outdoor Construction

The antenna is housed in a weather-resistant polymer enclosure designed for exposed installations. Its connection is positioned within the lower antenna assembly, helping protect the cable interface from the surrounding environment.

The antenna is rated to operate from -58°C to 85°C, supporting use in a wide range of marine, industrial, and remote-site conditions. It should be mounted vertically in a location clear of overhead obstructions and other equipment that may block the satellite signal.

Pole-Mount Configuration

The antenna uses a fixed mast or pole-mount arrangement and is available with a 3/4-inch threaded base configuration. Once mounted, a coaxial antenna cable runs from the antenna’s TNC female connector to the compatible Iridium device or docking station.

Cable length should be limited to what the installation requires because excessive coaxial loss can reduce system performance.
