Permanent External Antenna Installation

The antenna is designed for fixed installation on a vehicle roof or another suitable metal surface. Positioning the antenna outside allows compatible Iridium equipment to be used from inside a vehicle, building, or equipment enclosure where the device would not otherwise have a clear view of the sky.

For dependable satellite communication, the antenna should be mounted horizontally with minimal obstruction above and around it.

Low-Profile Bulkhead Mount

A threaded bulkhead passes through the mounting surface, allowing the antenna and its cable to be installed through a single 16 mm opening. The low-profile housing measures approximately 89 mm across and 21–22 mm high.

The antenna is intended for installation on a metal ground plane measuring approximately 40 square inches or larger. The mounting location should be structurally sound and properly sealed around the drilled opening.

Integrated Five-Meter Cable

The attached 5-meter cable provides enough reach for routing from a vehicle roof or exterior mounting point to equipment installed inside. Its male TNC connector attaches directly to compatible docks and terminals or through the appropriate handset antenna adapter.

Iridium Equipment Compatibility

The AT1621-5 antenna supports Iridium voice and data equipment that accepts a passive external antenna connection. Common applications include:

• Iridium Extreme 9575 and 9575 PTT
• Iridium 9555
• Iridium 9505A, 9505, and 9500
• Original Iridium GO!
• Compatible Iridium docking stations and terminals

Connection requirements vary by device. Handheld phones generally require a compatible antenna adapter or docking station.
