RedPort Halo Long Range WiFi Extender Antenna Kit only (Optimizer not included)
Description
Extends Available Wi-Fi Connections
The Halo is designed to receive a distant or weak Wi-Fi signal and route that connection to a RedPort Optimizer. This can provide a more usable connection when marina, campground, truck-stop, or building Wi-Fi does not reliably reach the boat, vehicle, campsite, or work area.
The extender does not create an internet connection and cannot exceed the performance of the source network. Actual range and speed depend on the access point, distance, obstacles, interference, weather, and installation position.
2.4 GHz Outdoor Antenna
The Halo uses a 9 dBi omnidirectional antenna operating on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band. It supports 802.11b/g/n networks and provides 360-degree horizontal coverage, allowing it to scan for access points in different directions without manually aiming a directional antenna.
This original Halo model does not connect to 5 GHz networks. The available source network must broadcast a compatible 2.4 GHz signal.
RedPort Optimizer Integration
The extender connects to the LAN port of a compatible RedPort Optimizer through an Ethernet cable. The Optimizer supplies power to the extender and rebroadcasts the selected internet connection through its local Wi-Fi hotspot.
An Optimizer is required for normal operation and configuration. It is not included with this antenna-only kit.
Marine, Vehicle, and Fixed Installation
The Halo can be installed on a boat, RV, truck, building, or other suitable fixed location. RedPort recommends positioning the antenna above the surrounding surface with a reasonably clear path toward the Wi-Fi source.
The extender installs on a user-supplied standard 1-inch, 14-threads-per-inch antenna mount. The mounting base itself is not included.
Real-World Range
RedPort lists a maximum possible range of up to seven miles under ideal conditions. This is not a guaranteed operating distance. Buildings, trees, terrain, antenna height, interference, weather, and the strength of the source access point can substantially reduce usable range and throughput.
