Cobham Prism EXPLORER Mobile Gateway
The Cobham PRISM EXPLORER Mobile Gateway is a rugged IP-based communications gateway available for rental to extend Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems beyond traditional radio coverage. It integrates satellite, cellular, LAN, and radio networks, automatically routing voice and data over the best available connection during remote or temporary operations.
Designed for public safety, utilities, mining, oil and gas, government, military, and emergency response deployments, the gateway supports a wide range of LMR and DMR radio systems and can be used with Cobham PRISM PTT+ for push-to-talk communications and centralized fleet management.
Satellite Phone Store provides rental guidance, compatible satellite equipment and service options, and deployment support for temporary field communications requirements.
Description
Extend Radio Communications Beyond Line of Sight
The Cobham PRISM EXPLORER Mobile Gateway is available for rental when existing land mobile radio systems need to communicate beyond their normal coverage area. The gateway connects compatible radio systems with satellite, cellular, and IP networks, allowing voice and data communications to continue where local radio infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
It is well suited for temporary field operations, emergency deployments, remote projects, and mobile teams that need to extend existing communications without replacing their current radio equipment.
Automatic Multi-Network Routing
The EXPLORER Mobile Gateway can use multiple communications networks, including compatible satellite terminals, Ethernet connections, and up to two independent cellular modems. Automatic routing selects an available network without requiring field personnel to manually switch between connections.
This helps maintain communications during mobile or remote deployments where network availability may change throughout an operation.
Compatible with Existing Radio Systems
Rather than replacing an existing radio network, the EXPLORER Mobile Gateway extends its reach. It supports common analog and digital land mobile radio technologies, including P25, DMR, and TETRA, allowing compatible radio users to communicate across satellite, cellular, and IP connections.
This makes the rental system practical for organizations that need additional communications coverage for a specific event, project, response operation, or temporary deployment.
Centralized Management with PRISM Portal
The Cobham PRISM Portal provides web-based management for configuring talk groups, network settings, and supported gateway functions. Administrators can manage multiple deployed systems from a central location, helping simplify communications across vehicles and distributed field teams.
Built for Field Operations
The EXPLORER Mobile Gateway is compact and rugged for use in vehicle-based and remote communications environments. Efficient Voice-over-IP technology helps manage voice traffic across available networks, while 256-bit AES-CTR encryption helps protect communications carried over satellite, cellular, and LAN connections.
As a rental solution, it provides a practical way to extend radio communications for temporary operations without requiring organizations to purchase additional gateway equipment for short-term requirements.
