ACR 1104 Replacement Battery Kit for GlobalFix V4 EPIRB (RLB-41)
The ACR 1104 is a user-replaceable lithium manganese dioxide battery kit for the ACR GlobalFix V4 EPIRB, model RLB-41. It is compatible with both Category I and Category II GlobalFix V4 configurations, including product numbers 2830 and 2831.
The Class 2 battery has a 10-year replacement interval and supports at least 48 hours of EPIRB operation at -20°C / -4°F. Replacement is required at the marked expiration date, after emergency activation, or earlier when regulations require a shorter service interval.
This lithium battery is regulated for hazardous-material shipping. Satellite Phone Store can help confirm beacon compatibility and available shipping options before ordering.
Description
Replacement Battery for the GlobalFix V4
Part number 1104 is the manufacturer-specified replacement battery for the ACR GlobalFix V4 RLB-41 EPIRB. The battery attaches to the lower portion of the beacon and restores its specified emergency operating capacity when the original battery reaches its replacement date.
Ten-Year Replacement Interval
ACR specifies replacement 10 years after the battery’s manufacture date or by the expiration date marked on the beacon, whichever comes first. The battery must also be replaced after the EPIRB has been activated for an emergency or another use beyond an approved self-test.
Some regulated vessels have shorter maintenance schedules. SOLAS vessels and installations subject to Shore-Based Maintenance may require replacement by a certified service facility rather than by the beacon owner.
Class 2 Emergency Performance
The LiMnO2 battery is rated for Class 2 operation and supports a minimum beacon transmission time of 48 hours at -20°C / -4°F. Its specified operating range is -20°C to 55°C / -4°F to 131°F.
User Replacement and Testing
The GlobalFix V4 manual identifies this battery as user-replaceable. Installation should be completed in a clean, dry environment according to the supplied ACR instructions, followed by the prescribed beacon self-test.
Because an EPIRB is emergency safety equipment, professional inspection remains appropriate when the beacon shows damage, fails a self-test, has been activated, or is subject to commercial-vessel maintenance requirements.
Lithium Battery Shipping
The battery contains lithium and is subject to regulated hazmat transportation requirements. Shipping methods and destinations may therefore be restricted, and used batteries must be disposed of according to local waste regulations.
