ACR OLAS Crew Tag and Strap (Free Mobile App)

Wireless Man Overboard Monitoring

The OLAS Tag continuously transmits a Bluetooth signal to the connected phone, tablet, or OLAS receiver. This creates a virtual tether between the wearer and the vessel.

When the connection is broken, the OLAS mobile app sounds an alarm within approximately eight seconds. The app records the phone or tablet’s GPS position at the time of the incident and provides bearing information to help the remaining crew return to the recorded location.

Wearable and Adjustable

Each Tag includes a universal silicone strap with a stainless-steel buckle. The adjustable design accommodates wrist circumferences from approximately 130 to 220 mm and can be worn by adults and children.

The strap can also be used to attach the Tag to a life jacket, clothing, pet collar, flotation device, or other onboard equipment. Straps narrower than 23 mm may be substituted when another mounting arrangement is required.

Free OLAS Mobile App

The free ACR OLAS app is available for compatible iOS and Android devices. One phone or tablet can monitor up to six OLAS Tags or Float-On transmitters, while an individual Tag can be monitored by multiple mobile devices.

If a Tag disconnects, the app:

• Sounds an audible man overboard alarm
• Records the incident time and GPS position
• Displays the bearing back to the recorded location
• Provides a prepared VHF man overboard call script
• Displays the Tag’s remaining battery status

The app uses the mobile device’s GPS rather than GPS hardware inside the Tag.

Compatible with the Wider OLAS System

The Tag can also connect to dedicated ACR OLAS receivers, including the OLAS Core alarm, OLAS Guardian wireless engine kill switch, OLAS N2K system, and OLAS Extender.

Dedicated receivers can provide faster onboard alerts and expanded system capacity compared with phone-only operation. This allows the same wearable Tag to remain in use as the vessel’s OLAS installation grows.

Replaceable Battery

The OLAS Tag operates for up to four months on a replaceable CR2477 lithium coin-cell battery. Battery condition can be checked through the OLAS app, allowing the user to replace the battery before leaving the dock.

The Tag should be switched off during extended periods of storage to preserve battery life.

Waterproof Construction

The Tag has an IP67 waterproof rating and can withstand immersion to a depth of 2 m. It is intended to trigger an alert when the signal is blocked by the water or when the wearer moves outside the receiver’s monitoring range.

The Tag does not float and should remain securely attached to the wearer, life jacket, or equipment.
