Certified Battery Replacement

The 1101 battery is installed only as part of an authorized service. The complete AquaLink PLB must be sent to an ACR Certified Battery Replacement Center, where technicians have the tools and procedures required to open, service, and reseal the beacon correctly.

ACR does not offer these batteries for customer installation. A full functional test is performed after replacement to confirm that the beacon is ready for another service period.

Battery and Seal Service

The 1101 battery system uses two lithium manganese dioxide battery packs, each containing two 2/3A cells. During service, the battery packs and applicable O-rings are replaced.

The beacon’s water seal, electrical properties, battery condition, and transmission functions are then checked before it is returned.

Replacement Schedule

The AquaLink PLB-350B battery must be replaced six years from the date of manufacture or five years after the beacon is placed into service, whichever occurs first. The expiration date printed on the beacon should be checked during routine inspections.

Battery service is also required after the beacon has been activated for an emergency or for any purpose other than an approved self-test.

Emergency Operating Capacity

The replacement battery is designed to support more than 24 hours of beacon operation at the Class 2 minimum operating temperature of -20°C (-4°F). ACR lists typical performance of approximately 35 hours at that temperature, although actual runtime depends on beacon condition and environmental factors.

Beacon Compatibility

This service is intended for the ACR AquaLink 406 GPS PLB identified as model PLB-350B and product number 2882. The beacon model and battery markings should be confirmed before it is shipped to the Battery Replacement Center.
