Authorized Battery Replacement

The ACR 1103 battery is installed as part of a professional service rather than sold for owner installation. ACR specifies that PLB battery replacement should be completed by a certified technician or authorized service center to ensure the beacon is properly serviced and tested afterward.

ResQLink Model Compatibility

This service is intended for the PLB-375 beacon platform, including:

• ACR ResQLink, product number 2880
• ACR ResQLink+, product number 2881

Additional product-number variants beginning with the same four digits may use the same PLB-375 documentation, but the model and existing battery markings should be confirmed before service.

Replacement Schedule

The battery is due for replacement six years from its manufacturing date or five years after the beacon is placed into service, whichever occurs first. It must also be replaced after the PLB has been activated during an emergency. The expiration label on the individual beacon should be checked before arranging service.

Emergency Operating Capacity

The replacement battery supports the PLB-375’s Class 2 operating requirements. ACR specifies more than 24 hours of operation at -4°F (-20°C), with typical beacon performance listed at approximately 30 hours under test conditions.

Inspection and Testing

The Battery Replacement Center services the complete beacon rather than simply supplying replacement cells. This allows the PLB to be resealed and functionally tested before it is returned for continued use. Any damage or faults discovered during inspection may require additional repair work.

Shipping the Beacon

The PLB-375 uses a Class 2 non-hazmat lithium battery configuration. The installed battery system has passed applicable UN 38.3 transportation testing, but carrier requirements and lithium-battery documentation may still apply. The selected service center should provide shipping instructions before the beacon is sent.
