Features:

The Cobham EXPLORER Connection Box separates the combined power and Ethernet cable from a compatible EXPLORER terminal into dedicated vehicle power, ignition, and RJ45 Ethernet connections. It is designed for fixed vehicle installations using the EXPLORER 323 or EXPLORER 122 and can also integrate an EXPLORER Push-To-Talk terminal into the system.

The enclosed box provides an organized connection point between the roof-mounted satellite terminal, the vehicle electrical system, and networking equipment inside the vehicle. It is suited to emergency response vehicles, mobile command units, utility fleets, field operations, and other installations that require permanently mounted BGAN connectivity.

Satellite Phone Store can help confirm terminal compatibility and identify the correct hybrid cable, power wiring, Push-To-Talk equipment, and BGAN service required for the installation.

Description

Separates Power and Network Connections

The connection box accepts the combined power and Ethernet cable from the EXPLORER terminal and separates it into accessible internal connections. These include DC power, vehicle ignition input, Ethernet conductors, Ethernet shielding, and an RJ45 Ethernet connection for compatible network equipment.

This arrangement allows the satellite terminal to remain mounted where it has a clear view of the sky while its power and network connections are terminated in a protected location inside the vehicle.

Vehicle Power Integration

Dedicated terminals are provided for connection to the vehicle battery and ignition circuit. The ignition input allows the EXPLORER system to respond to the vehicle’s operating state when installed and configured correctly.

The connection box uses a 7.5 A satellite-terminal fuse with the EXPLORER 323 or EXPLORER 122. A separate 4 A fuse supports an attached EXPLORER Push-To-Talk terminal.

Push-To-Talk System Support

The box can connect an EXPLORER Push-To-Talk terminal alongside the EXPLORER 323 or EXPLORER 122. Dedicated power, remote on/off, ignition, and Ethernet connections support integration between the terminal and Push-To-Talk equipment.

When the connection box is used without an EXPLORER Mobile Gateway or Push-To-Talk terminal, its remote on/off terminals must be configured according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Permanent Mounting

The metal enclosure includes four mounting points for installation on a stable interior surface. The box measures 140 × 122.5 × 50.5 mm and can be secured with M4 hardware or suitable self-tapping screws.

The connection box should be installed in a protected, accessible area where the wiring can be securely routed and serviced.
