Cellular Connectivity Through the EXPLORER Terminal

The modem connects directly to the USB host port on a compatible EXPLORER BGAN terminal. When cellular coverage is available, connected computers, phones, and other devices can access the local cellular data connection through the terminal’s wireless access point. BGAN remains available when satellite connectivity is required.

LTE, UMTS, and GSM Network Support

The modem supports LTE FDD service across the 800, 900, 1800, 2100, and 2600 MHz bands. It also supports UMTS on 900 and 2100 MHz and quad-band GSM service, providing compatibility with a range of cellular networks outside areas served exclusively by LTE. Carrier compatibility should be confirmed for the intended country and provider.

Compact USB Installation

The dongle measures 88 × 28 × 11.5 mm and adds cellular capability without requiring a separate router or gateway. Two TS-5 antenna interfaces are available for optional external cellular antennas where improved signal reception is needed. A MicroSD card slot is also integrated into the modem.

Firmware and Cellular Service Requirements

The modem requires EXPLORER 510 software version 1.02 or later or EXPLORER 710 software version 1.06 or later. An activated cellular data SIM from a compatible local provider is required for operation.
