Faster Antenna Changes
The FA-S103U replaces the IC-SAT100’s standard screw-on antenna connection with a quick-release BNC arrangement. Once installed, the antenna can be attached or removed with a 90-degree twist instead of repeatedly threading and unthreading the SMA connection.
Handheld and External Antenna Use
The kit includes the adapters and flexible antenna needed to maintain normal handheld operation while adding a quick connection for compatible external antennas. This allows the IC-SAT100 to transition between its portable antenna and an external antenna such as the magnetic-mount ICOM AH-40.
An external antenna can be positioned on a vehicle roof or outside a building where it has a clearer view of the sky, while the radio remains accessible to the operator.
Useful with the BC-247 Docking Station
The quick-release design is particularly useful with the ICOM BC-247 docking station. The antenna connection can be removed more easily before placing the IC-SAT100 into the dock and reattached when the radio returns to handheld operation.
Designed for the IC-SAT100
The FA-S103U is specifically designed for the handheld ICOM IC-SAT100 Satellite PTT radio. ICOM does not list it as an antenna accessory for the mobile IC-SAT100M.
