Goal Zero Nomad 5 Solar Panel
Description
USB Solar Charging
The Nomad 5 converts sunlight into USB power through its built-in USB-A port. It provides up to 5V at 1A, making it most suitable for small electronics rather than power stations, laptops, or other high-demand equipment.
Compact Outdoor Design
The panel measures approximately 9.5 × 7 × 0.8 inches and weighs 12.7 ounces, making it easy to carry in a daypack or store with outdoor and emergency equipment. Unlike larger Nomad panels, it uses a rigid single-panel design rather than a folding assembly.
Adjustable Kickstand
A built-in kickstand locks into multiple positions so the panel can be angled toward the sun. Correct positioning, direct sunlight, and limited shade are important because actual charging output varies throughout the day.
Direct Charging or Stored Power
A phone or other USB device can connect directly to the panel, but interruptions from clouds or shade may cause inconsistent charging. Goal Zero recommends pairing the panel with a Flip power bank, which can sit in the integrated dock and store solar energy for later use.
Outdoor Use
The Nomad 5 uses monocrystalline laminate in a rugged enclosure for portable outdoor use. The panel should still be handled as electronic equipment, with its USB port and connected devices protected from prolonged moisture exposure.
