ICOM IC-SAT100 HS97 Earphone with throat mic headset
Description
Throat Microphone Communication
The HS-97 uses a contact microphone positioned against the throat instead of relying only on airborne sound. It detects the vibrations created while speaking, which helps limit the background noise captured around the user. This makes it useful in locations with machinery, vehicles, crowds, or other ongoing noise.
Single-Ear Monitoring
The included earphone delivers received audio directly to one ear while leaving the other ear open to the surrounding environment. This arrangement can be useful for operators who need to follow radio traffic while remaining aware of nearby activity.
IC-SAT100 Compatibility
ICOM lists the HS-97 as compatible with the IC-SAT100 Satellite PTT radio. The headset uses a 2.5 mm stereo plug and must be connected through a compatible PTT switch box or VOX unit. For VOX operation with the IC-SAT100, ICOM specifies the OPC-2006LS plug adapter cable.
Operating Considerations
The HS-97 supports simplex communication only when connected to equipment with full-duplex capability. It does not have a published waterproof rating, so it should be protected from rain, splashing water, and prolonged exposure to moisture.
