Extended DC Power Placement

This extension cord adds 30 m to the terminal’s DC power connection, allowing the Hughes 9202M to be placed in a more suitable operating location while the power source remains inside a vehicle, building, equipment shelter, or other protected area.

This can be useful when surrounding structures or terrain prevent the terminal from obtaining a clear view of the Inmarsat satellite from a location close to the power supply.

Field and Fixed-Site Applications

The extended cable length supports temporary and semi-permanent installations used by first responders, government teams, NGOs, utilities, mobile healthcare personnel, and remote field operations. The Hughes 9202M is a portable Class 2 BGAN terminal designed for satellite voice and broadband data communications outside terrestrial network coverage.

Power-System Compatibility

The extension cord is designed for the Hughes 9202M DC power arrangement. Hughes lists a separate DC/DC vehicle adapter for the 9202M that accepts 11–16V DC and supplies regulated 19V DC power to the terminal. The extension cord should be used only with the intended Hughes power equipment and connector configuration.

Cable Routing

For dependable operation, the cable should be routed away from sharp edges, moving equipment, standing water, and high-temperature surfaces. Long cable runs should be supported at suitable intervals to prevent strain on the connectors and terminal power port.
