Vehicle Power for Portable BGAN Terminals

The adapter connects a Hughes 9202M or 9211 terminal to a compatible 12V vehicle power outlet. It provides regulated power for operating the terminal and charging its installed battery when standard AC mains power is unavailable.

This makes it practical for vehicle-based fieldwork, temporary command posts, remote reporting, disaster response, utility operations, and other deployments where the terminal must remain ready between fixed locations.

Regulated DC Conversion

The adapter accepts an input range of 11–16V DC at up to 15A and converts it to 19V DC at 3.5A. Its rated output is 66.5W, matching the external power requirements of the supported Hughes portable terminals.

The vehicle outlet and electrical circuit should be capable of safely supplying the required current. The adapter should not be used with an unsupported voltage source or damaged accessory socket.

Hughes Terminal Compatibility

Hughes lists the adapter as a shared accessory for the 9211 and 9202M portable BGAN terminals. Both models support external DC power for mobile deployments, while retaining their internal rechargeable batteries for operation away from the vehicle.

Indoor Vehicle Use

The adapter is specified for indoor use. It should remain inside the vehicle or another dry, ventilated area and should not be exposed directly to rain, standing water, or outdoor weather conditions.
