Hughes 9450 Power Cable – Bare Wire
Description
Direct DC Power Connection
The cable connects the Hughes 9450 Indoor Unit to a 12V or 24V DC electrical system. The terminal supports an input range of 10–32V DC and can draw up to 12A when operating from a 12V source. Hughes specifies a 15A fast-blow fuse for the terminal power circuit.
Three-Wire Configuration
The cable includes three color-coded conductors:
- Red: Positive DC power
- Black: Negative DC power
- White: Ignition sense
The white ignition-sense wire is normally connected to a switched 12V or 24V source that is active when the vehicle ignition is in the accessory or run position.
Permanent Vehicle Installation
Bare wire ends allow the cable to be routed directly to a vehicle battery, distribution panel, or fuse block. Hughes recommends using at least 14 AWG positive and negative wiring and securing the cable to prevent vibration, rubbing, or contact with sharp edges.
The power line should be connected to a properly fused circuit capable of supplying up to 15A for a 12V installation or 7.5A for a 24V installation. The terminal chassis must also be grounded separately to the vehicle chassis.
Hughes 9450 Compatibility
Hughes part number 3500472-0001 is supplied as the standard three-wire power cable in applicable Hughes 9450 terminal kits. It is compatible with 9450-series Indoor Units, including 9450, 9450E, 9450L, 9450LW, and 9450TW configurations.
