Removable Vehicle Installation

The magnetic mount set allows a Hughes C11 antenna to be installed on a suitable steel vehicle roof without drilling or permanently modifying the vehicle. This makes it practical for temporary deployments and systems that need to be removed, repositioned, or transferred between vehicles.

The C11 antenna must remain horizontal and should be mounted where it has a clear view of the sky. The vehicle surface should be clean, flat, and capable of securely holding all three magnets.

Three-Point Magnetic Support

The kit uses three individual high-intensity magnets attached to the antenna’s three mounting legs. This three-point arrangement supports the antenna evenly and helps maintain a stable mounting position during vehicle operation.

Hughes states that the magnetic mounts can withstand wind forces up to 100 mph when correctly installed. Actual suitability depends on the vehicle surface, installation condition, antenna placement, and operating environment.

Rubber-Coated Contact Surfaces

Each magnet is rubber coated, and the mounting assembly uses rubber washers between the magnet, antenna leg, and fastening hardware. These components help reduce direct metal contact and protect the vehicle roof during installation and removal.

The mounting surface should still be cleaned before installation because trapped dirt or debris may scratch the vehicle finish.

C11 Antenna Compatibility

Hughes part number 3501152-0002 is the magnetic mounting set specified for the C11 antenna. The mounts support C11-equipped Hughes 9450 configurations, including the 9450, 9450E, 9450L, 9450LW, and 9450TW systems.
