Features:

The Hughes 9450-C11 BGAN Satellite Antenna is a compact, automatic tracking antenna for compatible Hughes 9450 mobile satellite terminals. It acquires and follows the Inmarsat BGAN satellite while the vehicle is moving, supporting mobile voice and data communications without manual antenna pointing.

The antenna is suited to emergency response vehicles, utility fleets, mobile healthcare, field operations, broadcasting, and other mobile deployments that require BGAN connectivity beyond terrestrial networks. It can be permanently bolted to a suitable roof or installed with the optional C11 magnetic mount set, which is not included.

Satellite Phone Store can help confirm compatibility with the Hughes 9450 modem, RF cable, mounting hardware, BGAN SIM, and airtime plan required for a complete mobile satellite system.

Description

Automatic On-the-Move Tracking

The C11 is a fully autonomous tracking antenna designed for land-mobile BGAN communications. Once connected to a compatible Hughes 9450 terminal, it automatically acquires and tracks the Inmarsat satellite while the vehicle is moving. This allows the connected system to support shared IP data rates up to 464 kbps and streaming IP service up to 128 kbps, depending on the terminal, service plan, and network conditions.

Compact Vehicle Installation

With a diameter of 25.2 cm and a height of 11.9 cm, the C11 has a low-profile design suited to vehicle roofs where installation space is limited. It can be permanently mounted using the integrated mounting holes or paired with the separately available three-piece C11 magnetic mounting set for removable installations on compatible steel roofs.

The antenna should be installed horizontally with a clear view of the sky. Hughes recommends maintaining a minimum safe distance of 1 m to the side of and above the antenna during operation.

Single RF Connection

The antenna uses a 50-ohm female TNC port that carries L-band RF signals, antenna-control signaling, and 42V DC power from the Hughes 9450 Indoor Unit. A compatible 50-ohm coaxial RF cable with TNC connectors is required between the antenna and modem.

Because the RF cable also supplies DC power, the Hughes terminal must be switched off before the cable is connected or disconnected.

Outdoor Operating Protection

The antenna housing is rated IP56 for protection against dust and water exposure. It operates from -25°C to 55°C and can withstand survival temperatures from -40°C to 80°C. The permanently mounted antenna is rated for wind speeds up to 125 mph, while an installation using the optional magnetic mounts is limited to 100 mph.
