Remote Radio Operation

The HM-222H allows users to hear calls and transmit without repeatedly handling the radio. It can be clipped to a jacket, vest, or shoulder strap while the radio remains attached to a belt or stored in a protected position.

The microphone includes:

• Large push-to-talk control
• Built-in speaker and microphone
• Top-mounted emergency button
• Rotating attachment clip
• 3.5 mm earphone jack

Waterproof Field Construction

The HM-222H carries an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water. ICOM notes that the effective waterproof protection is equivalent to the rating of the radio to which the microphone is connected.

This construction is useful for field operations, outdoor work, marine environments, and other locations where communication equipment may be exposed to rain, spray, dirt, or frequent handling.

High-Output Speaker

The HM-222H is designed to provide increased speaker-microphone volume when paired with supported ICOM radios. Actual audio output depends on the connected transceiver and microphone combination.

Private Listening Option

A built-in 3.5 mm earphone jack supports compatible listen-only accessories, including selected ICOM tube and earhook earpieces. Connecting an earpiece helps keep received radio traffic private and can improve intelligibility in noisy environments.
