Alternative DC Power for Multi-Chargers
The OPC-656 connects a compatible ICOM multi-charger directly to an external DC power source. For IC-SAT100 deployments, it can power the BC-214N six-bay charger equipped with AD-140 charging adapters, providing an alternative to the BC-157S AC adapter.
Installation Applications
Direct DC operation can be useful in vehicles, communications trailers, equipment rooms, and remote facilities where a suitable DC electrical system is available. It allows multiple radio batteries to be charged without first converting the available power to AC.
Unterminated Power Leads
One end connects to the charger, while the opposite end is left open for installation into the appropriate power system. The cable must be wired with the correct polarity and connected to a source that meets the voltage and current requirements of the charger.
Charger Compatibility
ICOM lists the OPC-656 as a power option for several multi-charger configurations, including the BC-214N, BC-214, BC-197, and BC-121N families. The exact charger model and required DC input should be confirmed before installation.
