Description
Analog and NXDN Digital Operation
The CY-5300 supports both analog FM and NXDN digital communication. Mixed-mode operation allows the repeater to receive analog or digital traffic on a programmed channel and retransmit it in the corresponding mode, providing a practical migration path for organizations that are not replacing every radio at once.
The repeater provides 32 channels in one zone and supports CTCSS, DTCS, and digital RAN access codes. Its front panel includes a 12-character display, programmable controls, and an internal speaker for local monitoring or base-station operation.
VHF Coverage and Output Power
The CY-5300 operates across the 136–174 MHz VHF band and provides selectable output levels of 50W, 25W, and 5W. The repeater module supports 50W operation at a 50% duty cycle or continuous 25W operation under the manufacturer’s specified conditions.
Actual communication range depends on antenna height and placement, terrain, building construction, feed-line loss, operating frequency, and system design. Appropriate duplexers, filters, antennas, and professional frequency coordination are required for a complete installation.
All-in-One Rack-Mount Design
The repeater is built into a 19-inch rack-mount chassis with an internal 110/220V AC power supply. It also includes a heavy-duty, temperature-controlled cooling fan, N-type RF connectors, a grounding stud, shielded data ports, and a DB-25 accessory interface.
Available internal configurations can include:

These configurations can reduce the need for separate external components, depending on the frequencies and system requirements.
Automatic Battery Backup
The internal power supply supports automatic transfer to an external backup battery when AC power is lost. When AC power returns, the supply resumes powering the repeater and recharges the connected battery. ICOM confirms that compatible lead-acid or AGM batteries may be used.
Battery capacity, wiring, protection, ventilation, and installation requirements should be determined according to the required runtime and applicable electrical standards.
Expandable Radio System
The CY-5300 can operate as a conventional standalone repeater or be expanded using the optional UC-FR5300 network/controller board and applicable software. Available system configurations include:

Simulcast configurations use synchronized repeaters operating on the same frequency pair to improve coverage across larger or difficult service areas. Optional controller hardware, software, and a GNSS antenna are required.
