Features:

The ICOM CY-6301 is a 50W UHF repeater and base station operating from 400–470 MHz. It supports both analog FM and NXDN digital communication through ICOM’s IDAS platform, allowing organizations to continue using existing analog radios while adding compatible digital equipment.

The repeater combines the radio module, internal 110/220V AC power supply, cooling system, and external battery-backup connection in a 19-inch rack-mount chassis. It is suited for industrial sites, transportation operations, schools, public-safety organizations, warehouses, campuses, and other facilities that need dependable UHF radio coverage.

Optional controller hardware can expand the CY-6301 for single-site trunking, multisite systems, receiver voting, IP management, or NXDN simulcast. Satellite Phone Store can help determine the correct frequencies, internal filtering, antenna system, programming, and licensing requirements for the installation.

Description

Analog and NXDN Digital Operation

The CY-6301 supports analog FM, NXDN digital, and mixed-mode operation. In mixed mode, the repeater can recognize analog or digital traffic on a programmed channel and retransmit it in the corresponding format. This provides a practical migration path for organizations that are not replacing all subscriber radios at once.

The repeater provides 32 channels in one zone and supports analog CTCSS and DTCS signaling along with digital RAN access codes. A front-panel display, programmable buttons, and internal speaker also allow the unit to operate as a basic local base station.

UHF Coverage and Output Power

The CY-6301 operates across the 400–470 MHz UHF band and provides selectable output levels of 50W, 25W, and 5W. The repeater supports continuous operation at 25W under the manufacturer’s specified conditions, while 50W operation is rated at a 50% duty cycle.

Actual coverage depends on antenna height, building construction, terrain, feed-line loss, interference, and system design. A complete installation may require a duplexer or preselector, suitable antennas, professional frequency coordination, and radio programming.

Rack-Mount System Design

The CY-6301 uses a 19-inch, 3RU rack-mount chassis with an internal AC power supply, temperature-controlled cooling fan, rack handles, grounding point, and rear connections for RF, external equipment, networking hardware, and backup power.

Available internal configurations include:

  • Repeater only
  • Repeater with receive preselector
  • Repeater with notch duplexer
  • Repeater with notch duplexer and receive preselector

These options can reduce the amount of separate rack equipment required, depending on the assigned frequencies and installation requirements.

Automatic Battery Backup

The internal power system can automatically switch to a connected external battery when AC power fails. When AC power returns, the supply resumes powering the repeater and recharges the battery. The backup battery is selected separately according to the required runtime and site design.

Expandable System Configuration

Installing the optional UC-FR5300 network/controller board and applicable software can expand the CY-6301 beyond standalone conventional operation. Supported configurations include:

  • Single-site trunking
  • Multisite trunking
  • Multisite conventional operation
  • NXDN simulcast conventional operation
  • Receiver voting
  • Remote programming and monitoring over an IP network

These options allow the repeater system to expand as coverage areas, user groups, and communication requirements grow.
