Features:

The Intellian FO-1V16 is a VSAT fiber-link system for Intellian v240C, v240K, and v240M maritime antennas. It carries both transmit and receive RF signals between the antenna and below-deck equipment over a single fiber-optic cable, replacing long coaxial cable runs.

The system is intended for cruise ships, offshore platforms, commercial vessels, and other installations with long or complex cable routes. Satellite Phone Store can help confirm antenna compatibility, fiber-cable requirements, modem connections, and other components needed for the installation.

Description

Single-Fiber RF Connection

The FO-1V16 combines the antenna’s transmit and receive signals onto one fiber-optic connection between the above-deck and below-deck equipment. Fiber is smaller and more flexible than comparable coaxial cabling, reducing the amount and weight of cable that must be routed through the vessel.

Intellian states that its VSAT Fiber Link platform provides no measurable signal loss over fiber runs up to 2 km. This makes it suitable for large vessels where the antenna and equipment room may be separated by a substantial distance.

Separate Above- and Below-Deck Modules

The system uses a compact above-deck module installed inside the lower section of the radome and a 19-inch rack-mount below-deck module. These units convert the RF signals to optical transmission and back again at the opposite end of the fiber connection.

Unlike the FO-1V46 version, the FO-1V16 uses a standalone below-deck Fiber Link module rather than incorporating the Fiber Link equipment into the antenna’s ACU.

Compatible 2.4-Meter Antennas

The FO-1V16 is listed specifically for the Intellian v240C, v240K, and v240M. These are 2.4-meter maritime VSAT antenna systems configured for C-band, Ku-band, or multiband satellite communications, depending on the antenna model.

Because Intellian offers several similar Fiber Link packages, the antenna model and FO-1V16 part number should be verified before ordering.

Professional Fiber Installation

Installation should be completed by qualified maritime satellite and fiber-optic technicians. The system uses single-mode fiber with FC/APC connections, and the cable should be routed with suitable bend-radius control, strain relief, mechanical protection, and vessel-approved cable glands.

The installation may also require a vessel-length fiber cable, antenna control equipment, RF and modem cables, AC power connections, rack hardware, and other installation materials.
