Extended Operating Time

The high-capacity battery increases the operating time of the Iridium 9555 without changing the handset or charging equipment. A fully charged battery provides up to:

• 6.5 hours of talk time
• 43 hours of standby time

Actual runtime depends on signal strength, network conditions, temperature, call activity, and handset use.

Replacement or Spare Battery

The battery attaches directly to the rear of the Iridium 9555 and can be installed without tools. It can be used to replace an aging battery or carried fully charged as a backup when charging opportunities are limited.

The battery charges while installed in the Iridium 9555 using compatible handset charging equipment. A complete charge takes approximately four hours.

Docking Station Compatibility

The high-capacity battery is thicker than the standard Iridium 9555 battery. Because of the added depth, the handset may not fit docks designed around the standard battery profile.

Compatibility should be checked before using it with a SatStation, Beam, ASE, or other Iridium 9555 docking station.

Firmware and Battery-Level Display

The battery operates with all Iridium 9555 firmware versions. However, firmware version HT11001 or later is recommended for an accurate battery-level indicator.

With earlier firmware, the battery still provides its normal operating time, but the on-screen charge indicator may show a lower remaining level than the battery actually has.

Charging and Temperature Conditions

For proper charging performance, the battery should be charged between 32°F and 104°F. It can discharge and power the handset in temperatures from -4°F to 140°F.
