Description
Charging from a Vehicle Power Source
The Iridium DC Car Charger allows a compatible satellite phone to be powered and recharged from a vehicle accessory socket. It is suitable for cars, trucks, boats, mobile command vehicles, and other platforms equipped with a compatible DC outlet.
This provides a practical charging option during long drives, field deployments, offshore trips, and remote travel where access to a standard wall outlet may be limited.
Support for 12V and 24V Systems
With an input range of 10–32V DC, the charger can operate from many common vehicle electrical systems. This includes typical 12V passenger vehicles and many 24V commercial, marine, and heavy-equipment installations.
The vehicle should be running or otherwise supplying stable power through the accessory socket during charging.
Charging While the Phone Is Available
The handset can remain switched on and available while connected to vehicle power. This allows users to monitor incoming calls or continue using the phone while its battery is charging.
Charging may take longer when the handset is actively being used, has a weak satellite signal, or is operating in extreme temperatures.
Typical Charging Time
A full fast-charge cycle takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes under normal conditions. Battery condition, handset activity, ambient temperature, and the available vehicle power can affect the actual charging time.
For more consistent charging, the battery should be charged within its recommended temperature range and the phone should be positioned where it can maintain a stable satellite connection if it remains switched on.
