External Iridium Connectivity

The AD510-1 provides an external antenna connection for Iridium equipment used where the device itself cannot maintain a clear view of the sky. Typical installations place the antenna outside while the connected satellite phone or terminal remains in a protected indoor location.

For reliable operation, the antenna should be mounted upright with an unobstructed view of the sky from horizon to horizon.

Passive Antenna Design

The antenna operates without a separate power supply. It connects to the Iridium device through a compatible 50-ohm coaxial cable, making it a straightforward option for fixed installations with relatively short cable runs.

The recommended maximum cable length is approximately 20 meters, depending on the cable type and total signal loss. Longer cable runs generally require an active antenna system.

Rugged Outdoor Construction

The radome is made from a 4 mm fiberglass-reinforced polyester material, while the base is machined from hard-anodized aluminum. This construction provides resistance to corrosion and physical wear in outdoor, coastal, and marine environments.

Flexible Pole Mounting

The supplied AD510-2 mounting bracket attaches to vertical or horizontal masts and spars up to 60 mm in diameter. Stainless-steel U-bolts and hardware are included for securing the bracket.

Equipment Compatibility

The AD510-1 can be used with Iridium satellite phones, Iridium GO!, and other Iridium equipment that supports an external antenna connection. The required device adapter and cable vary by product and should be selected according to the connector on the Iridium device.
