Iridium Extreme® PTT Grab ‘N’ Go Wireless Kit
Description
Wireless Communication Away from the Case
The included wireless speaker/microphone allows an operator to transmit and receive audio without remaining beside the docked satellite phone. With the external PTT antenna correctly positioned, Beam specifies a maximum operating range of up to 500 m / 1,640 ft between the wireless handset and the base system. Actual range may vary with terrain, buildings, interference, and antenna placement.
Push-to-Talk and Satellite Voice
The integrated DriveDOCK supports an Iridium Extreme handset in either PTT mode or standard phone mode. Teams can use satellite PTT for group communication and switch to regular Iridium voice calls when direct one-to-one communication is required. In standard phone mode, supported dock functions include Bluetooth, GPS, tracking, alerts, and SMS capabilities.
Clearer Field Audio
The wireless handset combines a push-to-talk button, microphone, and speaker in a rugged handheld unit. It produces louder and clearer audio than relying only on the Iridium Extreme handset, which is useful around vehicles, machinery, temporary work sites, and other operating areas where background noise may be present. A 3.5 mm connection also supports an optional earpiece for more private listening.
Portable Case and Antenna Setup
The communication equipment is installed inside a weather-resistant carrying case for transport between vehicles and operating sites. A 5 m dual-mode antenna provides Iridium satellite and GPS reception, while the separate external PTT antenna supports the wireless connection between the case and handset. The satellite antenna should be positioned outdoors with a clear view of the sky.
Wireless Handset Battery
The wireless handset uses a rechargeable 1,450 mAh lithium-polymer battery and provides up to 15 hours of talk time. Its charging cradle is integrated with the system, allowing the handset to be stored and recharged between operating periods.
Field and Mobile Applications
The kit is designed for organizations that need a relocatable satellite PTT system rather than a permanently installed vehicle dock. It can support emergency services, commercial transportation, mining teams, defense personnel, government agencies, and remote crews operating beyond terrestrial radio or cellular coverage.
