Features:

The Iridium Glass Mount Suction Antenna provides an external antenna connection for compatible Iridium satellite phones, docking stations, and terminals. Its suction cup attaches to a smooth glass surface, allowing the antenna to be positioned near a windshield or window when permanent exterior mounting is not practical.

Originally designed for placement behind an aircraft windscreen, the antenna can also be used inside vehicles and vessels where suitable glass provides a clear view of the sky. An integrated 5-meter low-loss cable offers flexible routing to the connected Iridium equipment and terminates in a TNC male connector.

Description

Temporary Glass-Mounted Installation

The suction-cup mount allows the antenna to be attached to a clean, smooth windshield or window without drilling holes or permanently modifying the vehicle, aircraft, or vessel. It can be removed and repositioned as needed, making it useful for portable communication kits and shared equipment.

The glass surface should provide the antenna with the widest practical view of the sky. Metallic window coatings, heating elements, dense tinting, roofs, and nearby structures may reduce satellite reception.

Five-Meter Low-Loss Cable

The antenna includes an integrated cable measuring approximately 5 meters, or 16 feet. This provides enough reach to route the connection from a windshield or window to a satellite phone adapter, docking station, or terminal located farther inside the cabin.

The cable terminates in a TNC male connector for connection to equipment with a compatible TNC female antenna port. A handset-specific antenna adapter may be required when the antenna is used with a handheld Iridium phone.

Iridium Voice and Data Support

The antenna operates across the Iridium frequency range and uses right-hand circular polarization. It can support compatible Iridium voice, messaging, tracking, and data equipment when connected through the proper antenna interface.

The antenna is passive and does not provide satellite service on its own. Operation requires compatible Iridium equipment, active service, and adequate satellite visibility.

Compact, Sealed Construction

The antenna body measures 2.6 inches in diameter and approximately 0.69 inches high. Its low-profile shape limits obstruction around the windshield while remaining easy to store when removed.

A composite radome protects the antenna assembly, and the housing is hermetically sealed against environmental exposure. It is rated for temperatures from -55°C to +85°C, altitudes up to 70,000 feet, and vibration exceeding 30 G.

Aircraft, Vehicle, and Vessel Use

The antenna was developed for installation behind an aircraft windscreen but is also practical in cars, trucks, boats, and other mobile environments where an outside antenna cannot be installed. The removable suction mount is particularly useful for rental vehicles, temporary deployments, and communication equipment moved between locations.

Because glass composition and surrounding structures vary, the intended mounting position should be tested before the antenna is relied upon for regular communication.
