Replacement or Spare Power

Rechargeable batteries gradually lose capacity through age, repeated charging, and long periods of storage. Replacing an older battery can restore more dependable portable operation when the Iridium GO! no longer remains powered as long as expected.

A charged spare battery also provides additional operating time when the device is used away from vehicle, vessel, or wall power.

Talk, Data, and Standby Time

The battery supports up to 5.5 hours of talk or data use and up to 15.5 hours of standby time. Actual runtime varies with signal conditions, Wi-Fi activity, connected devices, temperature, and how frequently the Iridium GO! communicates with the satellite network.

Placing the Iridium GO! where it has a clear view of the sky can reduce repeated network searching and help conserve battery power.

Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Design

The battery uses rechargeable lithium-ion chemistry with a capacity of 3600 mAh, a nominal voltage of 3.7V, and stored energy of 13.3 Wh. It fits inside the device beneath the secured battery cover.

The battery charges while installed in the Iridium GO! using a compatible Micro-USB charger or powered USB connection.

Charging and Preparation

A complete charge takes approximately four hours under normal conditions. Charging time may vary depending on the power source, ambient temperature, device activity, and battery condition.

A replacement or stored battery should be fully charged and tested before it is relied upon for travel, field deployment, or emergency communication.

Storage and Battery Care

The battery should be stored in a cool, dry location away from excessive heat, moisture, direct sunlight, and conductive objects that could contact its terminals.

Spare batteries kept in emergency or travel kits should be checked and recharged periodically, as lithium-ion batteries gradually discharge during storage.
