Connection to an External Modem

This cable kit carries the receive signal, transmit signal, and Ethernet data connection between a compatible Kymeta u8 ODU and an external modem. The two RF coaxial cables handle the satellite Rx and Tx paths, while the Ethernet cable provides the data connection.

25-Foot Extension Length

Each cable provides 25 feet, or approximately 7.6 meters, of additional reach. The extensions connect to the stock Rx and Tx cable leads and the Ethernet jumper located beneath the u8 ODU shroud.

This added length is useful when the outdoor unit is mounted on a roof, vehicle, mast, or other exposed location while the external modem remains inside a protected equipment area.

Compatible Kymeta Configurations

Kymeta lists the cable kit for compatible u8 ODU configurations, including supported Hawk u8 GEO and Osprey u8 systems using an external modem. Compatibility should be checked against the exact Kymeta product code before installation.

Installation Considerations

The Rx, Tx, and Ethernet cables must be connected before the ODU is mounted, with the cable connections accessed beneath the terminal shroud. Cable routing should avoid sharp bends, excessive tension, heat sources, and areas where the cables may be crushed or damaged.
