Connection Between Indoor and Outdoor Equipment

The interface cable runs between the KyWay terminal’s indoor mTenna I/O unit and the outdoor antenna subsystem. Unlike the separate TX and RX coaxial cables, this cable carries power, Ethernet data, recovery functions, and control communication for both the antenna subsystem and BUC.

Purpose-Built KyWay Connections

Three different connectors are installed on the cable for the corresponding KyWay components:

• 31-pin connector for the antenna subsystem
• 12-pin Amphenol connector for the BUC
• 18-pin connector for the indoor mTenna I/O unit

Because these connections are specific to the KyWay system, a standard Ethernet, power, or coaxial cable cannot be substituted.

Installation Flexibility

The 7.62-meter length provides approximately 25 feet of separation between the indoor and outdoor equipment. This supports installations where the antenna must be mounted on a vehicle, vessel, roof, or exposed platform while the modem and interface equipment remain in a protected interior location.

Kymeta offered KyWay interface cables in 3.66-meter, 7.62-meter, and 15.24-meter lengths. The cable length should be selected according to the installation layout without joining multiple interface cables together.
