Description
Separate Transmit and Receive Connections
The kit provides dedicated cables for the KyWay terminal’s transmit and receive paths:
- The TX cable connects the modem’s TX output to the BUC in the outdoor unit.
- The RX cable connects the antenna subsystem’s RX output to the modem’s primary RX input.
These cables are separate from the KyWay ODU interface cable, which handles power, Ethernet, and control functions for the antenna system.
LMR-240 Coaxial Construction
Both cables use LMR-240 coaxial cable, which Kymeta approves for KyWay RX and TX installations up to 28 meters. The 7.62-meter length provides approximately 25 feet of separation between the outdoor antenna equipment and the indoor modem.
TX Signal Connection
The N-type TX cable operates from 1050 to 1700 MHz. It carries the modem’s transmit signal to the BUC and passes the 10 MHz reference signal required by the outdoor transmit equipment.
RX Signal and LNB Power
The N-type RX cable operates from 950 to 2150 MHz. It carries the received L-band signal from the antenna subsystem to the modem and supplies DC power to the LNB through the same connection.
Installation Identification
Kymeta recommends marking the TX cable in red and the RX cable in blue to avoid reversing the connections during installation. The coaxial cables should maintain a minimum bend radius of 2 cm during normal routing.
