ACR LB4V Lithium Battery Pack for V100

Reserved for Emergency Operation

The LB4V serves as the primary emergency battery for compatible GMDSS survival-craft radios. Its protective red tab isolates the battery from the radio during storage, allowing the pack to remain installed without gradually losing capacity through normal radio use.

In an emergency, breaking the tab enables the radio to be switched on and used immediately. A missing or broken tab indicates that the battery may have been activated and should be evaluated for replacement.

More Than 16 Hours of Radio Use

When installed on a compatible radio, the LB4V provides more than 16 hours of operation under the standard duty cycle used for GMDSS handheld radios. This cycle consists of 10% transmitting, 10% receiving, and 80% operation with the receiver squelched.

The battery is designed to maintain this operating time in temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F), supporting survival-craft communication in cold marine conditions.

Compatible V100 and SR203 Radios

The battery fits the Ocean Signal safeSEA V100 and its ACR-branded counterpart, the SR203 GMDSS handheld VHF radio. It attaches directly to the radio using the built-in battery-retention system.

The LB4V is intended for emergency operation rather than routine communication, training, or frequent testing. The rechargeable RB5V pack should be used for regular operation, while the TB6V alkaline test battery is available for limited routine testing of the V100.

Non-Rechargeable Lithium Construction

The sealed pack contains three isolated battery assemblies, each made from two AA-size lithium iron disulfide cells connected in series. It has a nominal output of 3V and weighs 148 g (5.2 oz.).

The LB4V must not be recharged, opened, crushed, punctured, short-circuited, or exposed to fire. Expired and used packs should be recycled or disposed of according to applicable local battery regulations.

Replacement and Storage

The battery should remain sealed and unused until an emergency. It must be replaced by the expiry date printed on the pack, even when the activation tab remains intact.

It should also be replaced after emergency activation, when the protective tab has been broken, or if the housing shows swelling, leakage, cracking, or other damage. The battery should be stored in a cool, dry, ventilated location away from excessive heat.
