Intellian NJRC Ku-band Extended Mini 8W BUC w/M&C (NJT 8318UNMR) V1-2212

Features:

The Intellian V1-2212 is an NJRC NJT8318UNMR 8W block upconverter for compatible maritime VSAT antenna systems. It converts a 950–1,700 MHz L-band signal from the modem into a 13.75–14.5 GHz universal Ku-band uplink signal and provides up to 8W of linear RF output power.

This model includes an N-type IF connector, a separate DC power connector, and an RS-232C monitor-and-control interface. It is suited to replacement or system-integration applications where remote power monitoring, transmit control, alarm reporting, and attenuation control are required.

Satellite Phone Store supplies Intellian maritime VSAT components and can help confirm the antenna model, frequency range, output power, power connection, and M&C requirements before ordering.

Description

Universal Ku-Band Uplink Coverage

The NJT8318UNMR operates across the 13.75–14.5 GHz universal Ku-band uplink range. It accepts a 950–1,700 MHz IF signal and uses a 12.8 GHz local oscillator synchronized to an external 10 MHz reference.

This extended frequency range supports compatible networks operating below the standard 14.0 GHz Ku-band uplink boundary.

8W Linear RF Output

The BUC provides a minimum P1dB output of +39 dBm, equivalent to 8W. Its nominal linear gain is 65 dB, with 59 dB minimum gain, supporting compatible maritime terminals used for internet access, voice, operational data, and crew connectivity.

RS-232C Monitoring and Control

The NJT8318UNMR includes an RS-232C serial M&C interface. Supported functions include:

  • RF power monitoring
  • Transmit on/off control
  • Alarm reporting
  • Digital step-attenuator control

These functions allow compatible antenna and network equipment to monitor BUC status and manage transmission settings remotely.

Separate Power and IF Connections

The N-type female connector carries the L-band IF signal and external 10 MHz reference. DC power is supplied through a separate MS-style connector, with an accepted input range of 18–60V DC.

The BUC automatically mutes its high-power amplifier if the local oscillator loses lock or the 10 MHz reference is unavailable. A status LED indicates normal lock or an alarm condition.

Outdoor VSAT Installation

The compact, forced-air-cooled enclosure is intended for installation within compatible maritime or fixed VSAT antenna systems. It operates across a wide ambient temperature range and weighs 2.4 kg, making it suitable for antenna platforms that require higher uplink power without a substantially larger RF assembly.

Before replacement, confirm the antenna model, universal Ku-band frequency plan, 8W output requirement, N-type IF connection, DC power connector, WR-75 waveguide orientation, and RS-232C interface.
