Protection for Communication Equipment

The Pelican 1400 provides a rigid enclosure for equipment that may be carried between vehicles, vessels, aircraft, offices, and remote work locations. It is well suited for organizing a satellite phone with its charger, spare battery, antenna adapter, cables, and other supporting accessories.

The solid-wall construction protects the contents from impacts and external pressure more effectively than a soft carrying bag. Its compact size also makes it practical for radios, tracking devices, cameras, test instruments, and other sensitive electronics.

Watertight and Dustproof Construction

An O-ring seal around the lid helps prevent water and dust from entering when the case is properly closed. The Pelican 1400 carries an IP67 rating, providing complete dust protection and protection against temporary immersion in water under the applicable test conditions.

This makes the case suitable for equipment stored in work vehicles, boats, emergency kits, warehouses, and outdoor operating environments where moisture or airborne debris may be present.

Customizable Foam Interior

The with-foam configuration includes Pick N Pluck foam that can be shaped by hand around the stored equipment. Removing the pre-scored foam sections creates dedicated spaces for each device and accessory, helping prevent movement and contact during transport.

Convoluted foam inside the lid provides additional cushioning from above. The interior can be arranged around the exact equipment being carried rather than relying on a general-purpose open compartment.

Secure and Portable Design

Two double-throw latches hold the lid securely closed while remaining straightforward to open. Stainless steel padlock protectors provide reinforced locking points for compatible padlocks when additional access control is required.

The rubber over-molded handle folds down when not in use and provides a comfortable grip during transport. With foam installed, the case weighs approximately 4.41 pounds.

Pressure Equalization

An automatic pressure-equalization valve balances the pressure inside and outside the case during altitude, temperature, and atmospheric changes. Its hydrophobic vent allows air to pass while helping prevent water from entering through the valve.

This is particularly useful when the case is transported by air, carried through changing elevations, or moved between environments with different temperatures.

Long-Term Equipment Storage

The Pelican 1400 can serve as a dedicated storage case for communication and emergency equipment. Keeping the device, battery, charger, cables, and documentation together makes the complete kit easier to locate, inspect, and transport when needed.

The foam should be arranged with enough space between components to prevent contact, while cables should be stored without sharp bends or pressure against their connectors.
