ACR RESQFLARE Electronic Distress Flare 3966
Description
Nighttime Visual Signaling
The ResQFlare flashes the international Morse code S-O-S pattern through seven white 0.5-watt LEDs. It produces light in every direction, giving rescuers a visual reference from boats or aircraft. ACR rates it for visibility beyond 6 miles under suitable conditions and for at least 20 hours of operation above the required 75-candela intensity.
Day and Night Compliance
The electronic light is certified to USCG 161.013 as a nighttime visual distress signal. The included orange flag, marked with a black square above a black circle, is certified to USCG 160.072 for daytime signaling.
When carried together, the light and flag may replace traditional pyrotechnic distress signals on applicable recreational vessels in the United States. Carriage requirements vary by vessel, operating area and jurisdiction, so local regulations should be confirmed before relying on this kit as the only required visual signaling equipment.
Buoyant and Waterproof Construction
The IP67 housing is designed for marine storage and exposure. The light is inherently buoyant and automatically rights itself when placed in the water, so no separate flotation collar is required. Its construction is also rated by ACR as resistant to fire, oil, fungus and corrosion.
Replaceable Battery Power
The ResQFlare operates on two standard C-cell alkaline batteries. They can be replaced by the owner, avoiding the disposal requirements associated with expired pyrotechnic flares. ACR recommends replacing the batteries annually. Batteries are not supplied with the product.
Practical Emergency Use
Manual activation keeps operation straightforward. The light can be held, placed in the water or positioned where its 360-degree signal remains unobstructed. During daylight, the supplied flag can be flown from a mast, held by hand, attached to a paddle or boat hook, or laid flat where it can be seen from the air.
The ResQFlare provides visual signaling only. It does not contact rescue services or transmit coordinates, making a VHF radio, PLB, EPIRB or other communication device an important companion for offshore and remote boating.
Warranty
ACR covers the ResQFlare against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the purchase or gift date, subject to the manufacturer’s warranty conditions.
