Features:

The Satcube Ku Battery is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed for Satcube Ku and Satcube Secure portable satellite terminals. It provides approximately one hour of continuous transmission or up to two hours of standby operation under typical conditions, allowing the terminal to operate away from vehicle or AC power.

With a capacity below 100Wh, the battery is designed to meet common requirements for carrying lithium-ion batteries aboard aircraft. It can be charged while installed in the Satcube terminal or separately using the Satcube Ku External Charger. Airline approval and spare-battery rules should always be confirmed before travel.

Description

Portable Power for the Satcube Ku

The battery allows the Satcube Ku terminal to provide satellite broadband without remaining connected to an external power source. It is useful for emergency response, temporary work sites, broadcast operations, government deployments, and other field applications where mains power may be unavailable or inconvenient.

The Satcube Ku terminal can hold up to three batteries, allowing users to extend operating time or rotate charged batteries during longer deployments.

Operating Time

One battery provides approximately one hour of full transmission time at 20°C. Standby operation can reach approximately two hours, although actual runtime depends on transmission activity, signal conditions, temperature, battery age, and terminal configuration.

Carrying additional charged batteries allows field teams to continue operating while depleted batteries are recharged separately.

Charging Options

The battery can be charged while installed in the Satcube Ku terminal when the terminal is connected to external power. It can also be removed and charged with the Satcube Ku External Charger.

The external charger is useful when several batteries need to be prepared simultaneously with terminal operation or rotated throughout a deployment.

Integrated Safety Circuit

The battery pack uses lithium-ion cells with an integrated protection circuit module. This circuitry helps manage charging and discharging conditions as part of the battery assembly.

Only the correct Satcube charging equipment should be used. The battery should be inspected for swelling, damage, or connector contamination before installation or transport.

Air Travel

The battery is rated below 100Wh and is described as IATA-compliant and approved for onboard aircraft transport. Spare lithium-ion batteries are generally required to be carried in cabin baggage with their terminals protected against short circuits, but airline and national requirements may differ.
