Description
Satellite Communication Inside a Vehicle
Satellite phones normally require a clear view of the satellite and may not work reliably through a vehicle roof. The SAT-DOCKER connects the handset to an externally mounted antenna, allowing the phone to remain accessible inside the cabin while maintaining the required view of the sky.
This setup is suitable for cars, trucks, buses, railway vehicles, mobile work units, and other vehicles operating within the Thuraya coverage area. Marine use may also be possible with a suitable maritime antenna and installation components.
Phone Charging and Secure Mounting
The cradle holds the Thuraya phone in a fixed dashboard position and charges its installed battery while connected to the vehicle’s DC power socket. It operates from an 11–16 VDC supply, making it intended primarily for standard 12-volt vehicle electrical systems.
The included universal stand allows the cradle to be positioned where the phone can be reached without obstructing vehicle controls or visibility.
Access to Thuraya Services
The dock allows continued use of the compatible phone’s supported functions while installed. These may include:
- Satellite voice calling
- SMS text messaging
- Voicemail
- GPS functions
- 9.6 kbps circuit-switched data and fax
- GmPRS packet data
Data and fax operation may require a compatible data cable, computer, software, and eligible Thuraya service.
Antenna Configuration
SAT-DOCKER packages may be supplied with North, South, or hemispherical external antenna configurations. The antenna must be selected according to the intended operating region and installed where it has a clear view toward the Thuraya satellite.
Some packages include a combined satellite, GPS, and GSM antenna, while antenna-free versions are also available. Package contents should therefore be confirmed for the specific configuration being ordered.

The current SAT-DOCKER platform is listed for the Thuraya XT-PRO, XT, and compatible XT-LITE variants. Connector design can differ between phone versions, so compatibility with the exact handset model should be verified before purchase.
