SatStation Single Bay Desktop Charger - Iridium 9555
Description
Charge a Spare Battery Outside the Phone
The SatStation Single Bay Desktop Charger is designed to charge an Iridium 9555 battery without installing it in the handset. This allows one battery to charge while another powers the phone, helping reduce downtime for users who depend on their satellite phone during long shifts, field assignments, or remote travel.
The charger accepts both standard and high-capacity Iridium 9555 batteries. The satellite phone itself does not fit into the charging bay and is not required during charging.
Charging and Battery Conditioning
The unit combines battery conditioning and rapid charging in a single process. It uses high-current charging with regularly spaced negative pulses and is designed to charge at rates appropriate for the installed battery.
Once the battery reaches a full charge, the unit changes to maintenance mode. This keeps the battery charged while helping prevent overheating or overcharging when it remains in the charger for an extended period.
Clear Charging Status
Integrated LED indicators show the status of the battery during the charging and conditioning process. This makes it easier to determine whether a battery is still charging or ready to be placed into service.
The single-bay format is suitable for individual users or locations that need to manage one spare battery at a time. Organizations operating several phones or larger battery pools may prefer a compatible four-bay charging station.
Compact Desktop Design
The charger measures approximately 6 by 3.75 by 1.25 inches and weighs about 8 ounces. Its compact desktop form is suitable for offices, communications centers, equipment rooms, mobile command locations, and temporary field facilities.
An onboard switching power circuit helps limit heat generation during operation. The charger is rated for use in temperatures from -20°C to +50°C and relative humidity levels up to 95% when non-condensing.
AC Power with Optional Mobile Charging
The charger operates from a 12V DC input and is normally supplied with an AC power adapter for desktop use. A compatible DC vehicle power option may also be available for charging in vehicles or boats, depending on the package selected.
This flexibility is useful for teams that need to maintain spare battery capacity both at a fixed location and while operating in the field.
Iridium 9555 Battery Compatibility
This version of the charging station is configured for Iridium 9555 batteries. Compatibility should be confirmed by the charger model or installed battery plate, as SatStation also produced versions for other Iridium handsets, including the Iridium Extreme 9575.
The charger does not include an Iridium phone or battery unless those items are specifically listed as part of the package.
