Features:

The Blue Sky SkyLink Extended Maruwa Antenna Kit provides an external Iridium antenna connection for compatible SkyLink systems. It includes a Maruwa dielectric-loaded decafilar-helix antenna and a 5 ft. LMR-240 coaxial cable, allowing the antenna to be positioned away from the SkyLink terminal when direct attachment does not provide suitable satellite visibility.

The compact passive antenna supports Iridium communications at 1621 MHz and provides a broad reception pattern for satellite messaging, tracking, emergency communications, and remote monitoring applications. The supplied cable uses TNC male and SMA male connectors, while custom cable lengths are available for installations that require a different routing distance.

Satellite Phone Store can help confirm SkyLink compatibility, cable length, antenna placement, and any additional mounting hardware required for the installation.

Description

Extended Antenna Placement

The kit allows the Maruwa antenna to be installed up to 5 ft. away from the connected SkyLink terminal. This is useful when the terminal is mounted inside a cabinet, vehicle compartment, communications enclosure, or other location that does not provide the antenna with a suitable view of the sky.

The antenna should be positioned vertically in an open location with as few overhead or surrounding obstructions as practical. Mounting hardware should be selected separately according to the installation surface and operating environment.

Reliable Iridium Reception

The included Maruwa MHL-1621C is a passive dielectric-loaded decafilar-helix antenna designed for the Iridium satellite frequency band. Its broad beamwidth and right-hand circular polarization help it receive signals from satellites across a wide portion of the sky without requiring precise directional aiming.

The antenna is suitable for Iridium satellite terminals, messaging systems, asset tracking, logistics management, emergency location, disaster communications, and remote research equipment.

Interference Management

The antenna’s balanced design helps reduce common-mode noise from the connected equipment. It also provides integrated filtering that can attenuate signals from common cellular and ISM frequency bands by as much as 30 dB, helping reduce interference in installations containing multiple radios or electronic systems.

Cable and Connector Configuration

The kit includes a 5 ft. LMR-240 coaxial cable terminated with TNC male and SMA male connectors. LMR-240 provides a practical balance between flexibility and RF loss for short antenna extensions. Custom cable lengths can be supplied when the standard cable does not match the planned installation.
