Remote LTE Antenna Placement

Unlike the standard antenna that attaches directly to the SkyLink terminal, this external antenna can be positioned where cellular reception is less obstructed. This is useful when the terminal is installed beneath a dashboard, inside an equipment cabinet, or elsewhere within a vehicle or building.

The magnetic base provides a removable mounting option on compatible steel surfaces without requiring permanent holes.

SkyLink Cellular Connectivity

SkyLink combines Iridium satellite communication with LTE cellular connectivity. This antenna supports the LTE side of the system, allowing the terminal to use an available cellular network when a compatible SIM and active service are installed.

Cellular availability and performance depend on the local network, service configuration, antenna position, and surrounding obstructions.

Integrated Two-Meter Cable

The attached 2-meter cable provides separation between the antenna and SkyLink terminal while avoiding the need for a separate antenna cable. It terminates in an SMA male connector for the terminal’s cellular antenna connection.

The cable should be routed away from sharp edges, moving components, excessive heat, and locations where it may be pinched or pulled.

Installation Considerations

The magnetic base should be placed on a clean, stable ferrous-metal surface. The antenna should be positioned upright and away from large obstructions whenever possible.

A magnetic mount may not attach securely to aluminum, fiberglass, plastic, or some stainless-steel surfaces. An alternative mounting method may be required in those installations.
