Mast or Rail Installation

The mount provides the mechanical connection between the SkyLink Scan Antenna and a compatible mast or rail. This allows the antenna to be positioned above nearby equipment and structures rather than installed directly onto a flat surface.

An elevated installation is particularly useful aboard vessels and at fixed sites where the antenna must remain clear of walls, roofs, deck equipment, and other obstructions.

Scan Antenna Compatibility

The mount is designed for the Blue Sky Network Scan Antenna, part number 65020-011. This antenna is used with SkyLink systems that provide Iridium Certus satellite voice, data, tracking, and monitoring services.

Confirmed applications include supported SkyLink 5100 fixed-site configurations and SkyLink 6100 maritime kits.

Clear View of the Sky

Iridium antennas require a broad, unobstructed view of the sky. On marine installations, the selected position should also preserve visibility near the horizon as the vessel pitches and rolls.

The antenna should be installed away from large metal obstructions and other transmitting antennas, following the separation requirements in the applicable SkyLink installation guide.

Installation Considerations

The supporting mast or rail must be structurally sound and compatible with the mount. The installation should also provide a protected route for the antenna cable without sharp bends, crushing, or excessive tension.
