The Blue Sky Network SkyLink Scan Passive SFX Antenna provides an external Iridium satellite connection for compatible SkyLink terminals. It is designed for the Iridium Certus 9770 transceiver and supports Certus 100 voice, data, tracking, and monitoring services across the 1616–1626.5 MHz frequency range.

Its omnidirectional design does not require manual satellite pointing. The IP68 housing and 1"-14NF threaded mounting interface make it suitable for permanent installations on vessels, vehicles, buildings, and remote facilities. A compatible coaxial cable and antenna mount are selected separately.

Description

Iridium Certus 100 Connectivity

The Scan 65020-011 is a passive antenna developed for equipment using the Iridium Certus 9770 module. It provides the RF connection required for compatible SkyLink terminals to access Iridium satellite voice and data services.

The antenna contains no modem or powered amplifier and does not provide satellite service by itself. It requires a compatible SkyLink terminal, approved coaxial cable, and active Iridium service.

Omnidirectional Satellite Coverage

The antenna uses right-hand circular polarization and an omnidirectional radiation pattern. It communicates with the moving Iridium satellite constellation without requiring the antenna to be aimed toward a fixed satellite.

For reliable operation, the antenna should still be mounted upright with a broad view of the sky. Nearby structures, overhead obstructions, and incorrect cable selection can reduce performance.

Marine and Land Installation

The antenna mounts on a standard US-style bracket with a 1"-14NF threaded stud. This allows it to be used with compatible SkyLink deck mounts, mast mounts, and rail-mount assemblies.

It is suitable for maritime and land-based installations, including vessels, fleet vehicles, remote monitoring sites, and fixed communications facilities.

Coaxial Cable Selection

The antenna uses an N-female RF connector and does not include a coaxial cable. The selected cable must have an N-male connector at the antenna end and the correct connector for the SkyLink terminal.

Cable type and length are important because Iridium Certus installations must remain within approved signal-loss limits. Longer runs generally require lower-loss cable such as LMR-400.

Weather-Resistant Construction

The antenna uses a low-loss ASA radome with internal copper, PCB, stainless-steel, and brass components. Its IP68 rating protects it against dust and water exposure, while the -40°C to 70°C operating range supports year-round exterior use.
