ICOM SP-28 Earhook Earphone for IC-SAT100 and HM-163MC
Description
Earhook Wearing Style
The SP-28 sits over the ear and delivers received audio without inserting an earpiece into the ear canal. This design can be more convenient for operators who dislike in-ear accessories or need to remove and replace the earphone frequently.
Suitable for Shared Equipment
Because the earphone can be worn without an earplug, it is well suited to radios and accessories shared between multiple personnel. It can be quickly reassigned during shift changes without replacing disposable ear tips.
Connection Through the HM-163MC
The SP-28 has a 2.5 mm plug and connects to the earphone jack on the Icom HM-163MC tie-clip microphone. The HM-163MC then connects to the IC-SAT100 and provides the microphone used for transmitting. The SP-28 does not connect directly to the satellite radio.
Private Incoming Audio
Incoming PTT communications are routed to the operator’s ear rather than playing through the IC-SAT100 speaker. This is useful in public spaces, vehicles, shared work areas, and other environments where received audio should remain close to the user.
