Terminal-to-Antenna Connection

The cable connects the SpaceCom antenna port on the Thuraya IP Commander to the corresponding TNC connection on the external satellite antenna. It supports the communication link between the terminal and antenna while also carrying antenna power.

Standard System Cable Length

A 10 ft RF cable is included with the original Thuraya IP Commander system package. This replacement cable restores the standard antenna connection without introducing unnecessary cable length into compact vehicle or portable installations.

Cable Routing and Protection

The cable should be secured at regular intervals and protected from crushing, kinking, and movement. Thuraya installation guidance specifies a minimum bend radius of 25 mm for a single bend and 50 mm where the cable is bent repeatedly. Outdoor connections should be sealed against moisture using suitable self-amalgamating tape.

Installation Use

The 3 m length is practical for mounting the antenna on a vehicle roof or nearby exterior surface while keeping the IP Commander terminal protected inside the vehicle or equipment area. The antenna should be installed horizontally with an unobstructed view of the sky.
