Description
Hands-Free Satellite Calling
The SAT-VDA allows a compatible Thuraya phone to remain docked and connected to an externally mounted antenna while calls are handled through the included speaker and microphone. This is useful in vehicles where the handset would otherwise have a limited view of the satellite through the roof or windows.
A digital signal processing unit provides noise suppression and echo reduction for clearer full-duplex conversations. The system is intended for cars, trucks, mobile work units, and other vehicles operating within the Thuraya coverage area.
External Satellite, GPS, and GSM Antenna
The complete kit includes a 3-in-1 antenna for satellite, GPS, and GSM reception. Separate antenna and extension cables allow the antenna to be positioned outside the vehicle while the phone and other components remain installed inside.
Antenna configurations may be supplied for northern or southern Thuraya satellite orientation. The correct version should be selected for the intended operating region.
Vehicle Power and Charging
The SAT-VDA operates from an 11–16 VDC supply and charges the installed Thuraya phone when the vehicle ignition is on. It is therefore intended primarily for standard 12-volt vehicle systems. A suitable voltage converter is required for 24-volt installations.
The system also provides an automatic stereo-mute connection so a compatible vehicle audio system can be silenced during calls. Professional installation is recommended for the power, ignition, grounding, antenna, and stereo connections.
Private and Hands-Free Conversations
Calls can be handled through the external speaker and microphone or through a separate privacy handset. When private mode is selected, hands-free audio is muted so the conversation is not played through the vehicle speaker.
Thuraya Services and Data
The SAT-VDA preserves access to supported Thuraya phone functions, including satellite voice, SMS, voicemail, GPS, call forwarding, and automatic GSM roaming where supported by the handset and service. A 9.6 kbps data or fax connection is available with the appropriate optional data cable.
