These plans have to be approved by Inmarsat and are only available for type approved FleetBroadband 250 and 500 User Terminals.Based on its assessment of the particular end-user case, Inmarsat will, at its absolute discretion, choose whether to approve the FBB Link plan for the nominated end-user.
Inmarsat will monitor the network for activity that impacts the availability of the network to other end-users. If the end-user’s upload and/or download data volumes is such that it is considered by Inmarsat to be excessive and could lead to the network become congested, then the Quality of Service available to the end–user concerned will be progressively reduced to limit the volume of data that the end-user will be able to upload or download. Excessive use will be decided by Inmarsat at its sole discretion based on the impact that any individual end-user’s usage profile is having on the overall performance of the network for all active end-users.
The Package Rate Plans have been developed for use with and, are only available for use by, Satellite Terminals located on a working vessel and are designed to support ship to shore and ship to ship calling. They are not available for use by a Satellite Terminal for shore to ship (carrier by-pass) traffic.
As the Inmarsat network is a contended network, Inmarsat employs a Fair Use Policy to ensure that all users behave in a responsible way to ensure that they benefit from access to the network. For the FBB Link Plans, this includes limitations on usage of high bandwidth applications or activities to ensure that the network remains accessible. Service Aware Control & Charging (SAC-C) must be selected to support traffic management enabling the QoS to be significantly reduced if user exceeds the allowance
Based on its assessment of the particular end-user case, Inmarsat will, at its absolute discretion, choose whether to approve the FBB Link plan for the nominated end-user. SPs may only make verbal or written FBB Link offers to end-users for whom the SP has the formal written approval of Inmarsat. FBB Link approval is end-user specific and may not be generically offered by the channel partner to end-users other than those specifically approved.
Special terms apply to Inmarsat FBB Link Plan Activations, including limitations on usage of high bandwidth activities, such as:
- Peer-to-Peer file sharing such as BitTorrent, DirectConnect, e-Donkey, FastTrack Kazaa, Gnutella, Open FT and any other current P2P clients;
- Mainstream un-optimized commercial Voice over IP clients such as Skype; • Optimized satellite orientated VoIP clients and solutions;
- Movie downloads such as MP3/4 content;
- Broadcast or Peer-to-Peer streaming (including mainstream video sites such as YouTube and internet radio);
