ACR EPIRB Hydrostatic Release (9490.1)
Description
Automatic EPIRB Release
The HydroFix HRU holds a Category I EPIRB inside its automatic-deployment bracket during normal operation. At a water depth of approximately 1.5 to 4 meters, the hydrostatic mechanism releases the bracket’s retaining system so the beacon can rise to the surface.
Mechanical Release Design
The HydroFix uses a patented rod-based mechanism that does not depend on a battery, cutting blade, or pyrotechnic charge. It is designed specifically for supported ACR Category I EPIRB brackets and is factory tested by ACR.
Replacement Schedule
The HRU is a date-controlled safety component. It must be replaced two years from its installation date or four years from its manufacturing date, whichever occurs first. The expiration date should be marked on the HRU and the supplied external bracket label during installation.
Bracket Compatibility
The universal kit includes separate release rods and hardware for different generations of ACR brackets. It is compatible with Sea Shelter, Sea Shelter 2, Sea Shelter 3, and Sea Shelter 4 Category I EPIRB brackets. Some included components may not be required for every bracket model.
